Head of the Medical-Surgical Nursing Specialist Ners Study Programme

The Medical-Surgical Nursing Specialist Ners Study Programme is a study programme that is carried out after students complete the Master of Nursing Science Study Programme. This specialist education stage is taken in 2 semesters and a maximum of 3 semesters. Graduates of the Nursing Specialist Medical-Surgical Nursing Study Programme will obtain the professional title of Medical-Surgical Nursing Specialist (Sp.Kep.MB).

Mission

  1. Provide broad and equitable access for the community to quality medical-surgical nursing specialist education.
  2. Organising Tridharma activities that are quality and relevant to the challenges of the development of health services and Medical-Surgical Nursing nationally and globally.
  3. Prepare students to become graduates who have high intellectuality, noble character and obey the Indonesian Nursing code of ethics so that they are able to compete nationally and globally.
  4. Creating an academic climate that is able to support the realization of the vision of FON UI.
  5. Establishing national and global networks to achieve high-quality Tridharma and enhance the reputation of nursing.
  6. Creating a fact-based Medical-Surgical Nursing speciality practice,).
  7. Fostering institutions and alumni specialising in medical-surgical nursing in order to improve competence.

Objectives

  1. Implementing a quality medical-surgical nursing specialist education curriculum.
  2. Produce graduates of Surgical Nursing Specialist Ners who are capable:
    1. Apply evidence-based nursing knowledge to improve medical-surgical nursing care.
    2. Implement professional performance demonstrated by the application of the results of the development of medical-surgical nursing science and technology.
    3. Develop and update medical-surgical nursing knowledge including nursing interventions and/or modality therapy in medical-surgical nursing.
    4. Resolve complex problems that arise in medical-surgical nursing care.
  3. Producing quality surgical nursing research, publications in national and international journals, patents and intellectual property rights in the field of surgical nursing.
  4. Conducting various research-based community service activities in accordance with community needs.
  5. Producing co-operation in the fields of education, research, and community service in the area of medical and surgical health and nursing.

Graduate Profile

A medical-surgical nursing specialist who is able to perform case management and provide specialised nursing care using the latest knowledge and specialised nursing skills in an ethical, culturally sensitive, effective and professional manner.

Requirements

  1. Have a diploma of Ners, Master of Nursing / MSc in Nursing / Master of Art in Nursing / Master of Health Science (Biomedical / Public Health) from an accredited university of at least B or equivalent.
  2. Possess a Competency Certificate or a Ners Registration Certificate.
  3. At least two years working experience in Medical-Surgical nursing after graduated Ners.
  4. Have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3 (on a 4.00 scale).
  5. Meet the minimum criteria for TPA and English scores according to UI regulations

  6. Got recommendation from interviewer (after interview at Faculty of Nursing, University of Indonesia)

    If the specialisation of the specialist is not the same as the specialisation background in the Masters programme, it is mandatory to take matriculation 1-2 semesters before participating in specialist education*.

  1. Apply online at the site penerimaan.ui.ac.id
  2. Fill in the track record and upload the academic requirement documents:
    a. Bachelor's, Ners and Master's certificates (make 1 pdf file)
    b. Education institution accreditation certificate of at least B;
    c. Certificate of competence or Registration Certificate;
    d. Certificate of work experience
    e. Letter of permission/learning assignment from the head of the institution where you work
    f. Valid TPA and TOEFL (if applicable) at the link  http://tiny.cc/FormSpesialis-RekamJejak ; if the document is not uploaded, it will be considered as not fulfilling the administrative requirements.
  3. Make payment of SIMAK UI registration fee.
  4. Take the written examination organised by the University of Indonesia;
  5. Participated in an interview organised by Faculty of Nursing UI
