Biography

Imami Nur Rachmawati is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Nursing at the Universitas Indonesia where she has been a faculty member since 1996. She previously worked as a nurse practitioner at several hospitals in Jakarta.

Imami completed her Doctor and undergraduate studies at Universitas Indonesia, and master’s degree at Liverpool John Moores University, United Kingdom. When studying at Doctor and Master degree, her dissertation was about pain in childbirth and its management. She had a very impressive experience in caring for childbirth women while doing research at Liverpool Women’s Hospital and visiting several hospitals around Merseyside County in North West England. This experience brought her interest in childbirth pain and maternal wellness in her research. On every visit to health care institutions, both in Indonesia and abroad she always takes the time to visit maternal care. She has a passion for doing qualitative research. Discussing with influential experts is the way to enrich her knowledge. Other areas those are her research interests are adolescent reproductive health, perinatal mental health, and breastfeeding. She had community projects related to adolescent reproductive health, developing an e-MCH book, and women’s wellness at incarcerated. She has collaborated actively with researchers in several other disciplines.

Imami actively involves in developing academic writing and publication skills in Kemenristekdikti. She has been managing Jurnal Keperawatan Indonesia (JKI) since its first launch in 1997 and since 2015 has been editor in chief. JKI is a nursing journal that has a high rank at SINTA and has been indexed at Scopus since 2021. She is also a reviewer of some journals, both national and international. She writes qualitative research and academic writing book.
