Biography

Prof. Dr. I Made Kariasa, S.Kp., M.M., M.Kep., Sp.Kep.M.B. is a Professor in the field of Neurology Nursing in the Medical Surgical Nursing Department at the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Indonesia (FoN UI). Born in Gianyar, Bali, in 1966, he completed his bachelor’s degree in nursing at Universitas Indonesia and subsequently earned his doctoral degree in nursing. On 1 April 2026, he was officially inaugurated as a Full Professor at FIK UI, delivering an inaugural lecture entitled “Stroke as a Global and National Health Challenge: A Paradigm Shift from Life-Saving to Life-Meaning in the Nursing Perspective.”

His primary areas of expertise include medical-surgical nursing, neurology nursing, stroke management, and the prevention and rehabilitation of non-communicable diseases such as hypertension and diabetes. In his scientific view, effective stroke care must go beyond mere life-saving and shift toward life-meaning recovery, enabling stroke survivors to live with empowerment and dignity. One of his notable innovations is the development of the Kariasa Digital Sensor (SenDiKa 1.0 & 2.0), a non-invasive prototype device capable of simultaneously measuring blood pressure, blood glucose, and cholesterol levels to support early detection and self-management in post-stroke patients.
