Emergency detection in children usually uses conventional (paper-based) methods which take> 1 minute. This can slow down the work of nurses in detecting emergencies in children. Dessie Wanda, S.Kp., M.N., Ph.D with the team tried to design a Pediatric Assessment Triangle (PAT) prototype based on an android application. PAT is a tool for detecting emergencies in children quickly and precisely by assessing first impressions on pediatric patients so that nurses can immediately provide assistance to prevent more severe complications and death. Emergency detection using PAT can be done <1 minute. PAT is very helpful for a health practitioner (nurses and other health workers) in detecting and dealing with emergencies in children, especially during the current pandemic. This Android application-based PAT was created for the first time in Indonesia and even internationally. This application has registered Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) so that it can be used by nurses and other health workers.
Dessie explained that this prototype project was funded by the Directorate of Innovation and Techno Park, University of Indonesia. This project in collaboration with Dr. Suyoto and involving nurses and other health workers in the IRD (IGD) room. One of the nurses who uses PAT said that PAT is very helpful in detecting patients with emergency cases in children quickly. In addition, the development of this application is in accordance with current conditions where almost all hospitals have used a digital medical record system. Dessie said that this android application-based PAT will soon be available on the Google AppStore so that nurses and other health workers can use this application. Dessie and her team will soon hold a national seminar inviting nurses from all over Indonesia to get an explanation about this Android-based PAT.
