Biography

Prof. Dra. Setyowati, S.Kp., M.App.Sc., Ph.D., is a distinguished Professor in the Department of Maternity Nursing at the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Indonesia (FIK UI). Widely recognized as Indonesia’s first Professor in Maternity Nursing and the fifth Professor in Nursing at FIK UI, she has made significant contributions to the advancement of nursing education, research, and practice in maternal and child health.

Her teaching expertise encompasses Maternity Nursing, Nursing Management and Leadership, and Qualitative Research in Nursing, where she mentors undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students.

Prof. Setyowati’s research portfolio focuses on innovative interventions in maternal and reproductive health, patient safety, and evidence-based nursing practices. Notable works include the development of Pain Digital Acupressure (PDA) to alleviate labor pain and accelerate the second stage of labor; culture-based nursing interventions for postpartum mothers; models for managing patient safety culture; nutritional strategies for pregnant women; and the Digital Massager of Oxytocin (DMO) to enhance breast milk production among working postpartum mothers, among other impactful studies.

In community engagement and service (Pengabdian Masyarakat), she has led initiatives empowering communities and healthcare providers, such as training cadres to prevent COVID-19 transmission among pregnant, birthing, and breastfeeding mothers through interactive applications; developing an integrated elderly care service model in Cisalak; and strengthening healthcare workers’ capacity to prevent HIV/AIDS in household settings, particularly targeting mothers, alongside various other outreach programs.

With extensive publications, citations in reputable databases, and leadership roles in academic and professional organizations, Prof. Setyowati continues to shape the future of nursing in Indonesia through her dedication to excellence in education, research, and societal impact.
