Head of the Ners Specialist in Mental Nursing Study Programme

The Ners Specialist in Mental Nursing Study Programme is an educational programme that is carried out after students complete the Master of Nursing Science Study Programme. This specialist education stage is taken in 2 semesters and a maximum of 3 semesters. Graduates of the Ners Specialist in Mental Nursing Study Programme will obtain the professional title of Mental Nursing Specialist (Sp.Kep.J.).

Vision

"In 2035, it will become a centre of excellence for the development of specialised mental health care in all health care settings using culturally sensitive specialist mental health care therapies at the regional level."

Mission

  1. Organising a mental nursing specialist education programme that is oriented towards all health service settings.
  2. Organising a specialist mental nursing education programme that develops evidence-based specialised mental nursing care.
  3. Organising a mental nursing specialist education programme that develops nursing research oriented to the problems and needs of the community nationally and regionally in all health service settings.
  4. Organising a mental nursing specialist education programme that develops various models and innovations of efficient and effective evidence-based mental nursing services that are prospective.
  5. Organising a specialist mental nursing education programme that applies specialised mental nursing services and care in improving the mental health of the community.

Objectives

  1. Producing mental nursing specialist nurses who are able to work ethically, legally and culturally sensitive based on evidence in all health service settings.
  2. Producing mental nursing specialist nurses who are able to provide culturally sensitive mental nursing services in all health care settings.
  3. Producing mental nursing specialist nurses who are able to provide nursing care based on nursing diagnosis in various client systems comprehensively by using various evidence-based mental nursing speciality therapies.
  4. Producing mental health nursing specialists who are able to share their knowledge and experience with other nurses and health workers for the development of mental health care and services.
  5. Producing mental nursing specialist nurses who are able to conduct research oriented to the problems and needs of the community nationally and internationally in all health service settings.
  6. Produce various evidence-based scientific papers published nationally and internationally in accredited journals.
  7. Producing mental nursing specialist nurses who are able to become innovators who develop various models and innovations of efficient and effective evidence-based mental nursing services that are prospective to improve public mental health.
  8. Produce nurses specialising in mental health nursing who are able to make changes efficiently and effectively in health care settings.

Graduate Profile

A psychiatric nursing specialist who is able to manage cases and provide specialised nursing care using the latest knowledge and specialised nursing skills in an ethical, culturally sensitive, effective and professional manner.

Requirements

Lecture/Practice Time and Place

Place: UI Depok Campus and practice sites in the Depok, Jakarta, and Bogor areas, or other locations as determined by the relevant Study Programme.

Time: 5 days/week; hours between 08:00 and 18:00 or according to the service schedule at the practice site.

  1. Have a Ners diploma, Master of Nursing/MSc in Nursing/ Master of Art in Nursing/ Master of health science (Biomedical/Public Health) from an accredited university of at least B or equivalent.
  2. Possess a Competency Certificate or a Ners Registration Certificate.
  3. At least two years of working experience in the field of psychiatric nursing after graduating from Ners.
  4. Have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3 (on a 4.00 scale).
  5. Meet the minimum criteria for TPA and English scores according to UI regulations
  6. Got recommendation from interviewer (after interview at Faculty of Nursing, University of Indonesia)

    If the specialisation of the specialist is not the same as the specialisation background in the Masters programme, it is mandatory to take matriculation 1-2 semesters before participating in specialist education*.

  1. Apply online at the site penerimaan.ui.ac.id
  2. Fill in the track record and upload the academic requirement documents:
    a. Bachelor's, Ners and Master's certificates (make 1 pdf file)
    b. Education institution accreditation certificate of at least B;
    c. Certificate of competence or Registration Certificate;
    d. Certificate of work experience
    e. Letter of permission/learning assignment from the head of the institution where you work
    f. Valid TPA and TOEFL (if applicable) at the link  http://tiny.cc/FormSpesialis-RekamJejak ; if the document is not uploaded, it will be considered as not fulfilling the administrative requirements.
  3. Make payment of SIMAK UI registration fee.
  4. Take the written examination organised by the University of Indonesia;
  5. Participated in an interview organised by Faculty of Nursing UI
