Depok, 18 March 2025 - The Faculty of Nursing of the University of Indonesia (FoN UI) and the Hospital of the University of Indonesia (RSUI) held a friendly meeting in Building A of the Health Sciences Cluster of the University of Indonesia (RIK UI). The meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration in education, health services, and research, as well as emphasising the commitment of both institutions in improving the quality of health services and the development of human resources in the field of nursing. The event was attended by FoN UI leadership, RSUI leadership, FoN UI Board of Professors, Heads of Departments, and Heads of Study Programmes.

In his remarks, the Director of RSUI, Dr dr. Rakhmad Hidayat, Sp.S(K), MARS, emphasised the readiness of RSUI in supporting health services for the faculty and providing the best services, including fast track for UI employees. RSUI also continues to improve service quality, both in terms of quality and user satisfaction.

Going forward, FoN UI and RSUI will increase cooperation in education, particularly in the development of skills labs and professional nursing programmes. In addition, RSUI plans to develop psychiatric inpatient services that require close collaboration with FoN UI. RSUI is also expanding access to health services at special rates, not only for UI employees and alumni, but also for retirees and their families. Medical Check-Up (MCU) services are also expected to be utilised more as a preventive measure to ensure the health of UI citizens.

The Dean of FoN UI, Prof. Dr. Rr. Tutik Sri Hariyati, S.Kp, MARS, emphasised that FoN UI has invited various departments to develop a modern practice model to ensure optimal student placement. The hope is that RSUI's capacity can be expanded for Ners and Ners specialist students so that more UI graduates can contribute to RSUI.

Chair of the FoN UI Board of Professors, Prof. Achir Yani S. Hamid, M.N., DN.Sc., highlighted research showing that many nurses do not feel at home at work, which contributes to the high rate of nurses leaving Indonesia. Therefore, there is a need for special programmes to improve nurse retention and ensure they feel valued. A more humanised model of nursing service, such as in Japan, can be used as a reference to improve nurses' job satisfaction.

FoN UI also expressed support for the plan to open psychiatric services at RSUI and emphasised the importance of a holistic approach to patient care. Research shows that patients with physical illnesses have high levels of anxiety and depression, so more attention to their mental health is needed. The concept of continuity of care also needs to be applied so that patients get ongoing assistance.

As part of strengthening international networks, RSUI will receive eight students from Malaysia in a short-term exchange programme from late April to early May. In the future, more foreign students are expected to come for practice and research. In addition, FoN UI has 11 research clusters that can support nursing development at RSUI.

Conclusion and Next Steps

  • RSUI is ready to increase collaboration with FoN UI in the fields of health services, education, and research.
  • A nurse retention programme is needed to improve well-being and work motivation.
  • RSUI will develop inpatient psychiatric services with the support of FoN UI.
  • A holistic approach to patient care will be implemented to improve patient well-being.
  • FoN UI supports student placements, international exchange programmes, and easy access to research at RSUI.

This collaboration is expected to continue to grow to improve the quality of health services and education at UI and provide benefits to the wider community.

With the close cooperation between FoN UI and RSUI, it is hoped that UI can further excel in the field of nursing education and health services and contribute more broadly to the medical world in Indonesia.
