To meet the need for clean water in the campus environment, the faculty conducts water management independently using ground well water that is filtered and stored in the roof tank. Water consumption is tracked through the water meter and is monitored monthly. FoN UI often implements wastewater management so that the water can be reused and often promotes water saving movements to reduce water consumption.

Implementation of the Wastewater Treatment and Recycled Water Utilization Program at the Faculty
FoN UI has clean water container well, absorption well, and rainwater well. FoN UI also recycles liquid waste or dirty water by storing and recycling it with recycling machines. The recycled water and the rain water is stored in a container tank and is refined using STM. The clean water produced from this distillation process can be used to water the plant and flush the toilet. Across FoN UI, there is also an Agatis Lake, an artificial lake used as a means to store and conserve water at Faculty of Nursing.

As an effort to prevent polluted water from entering the water system, the waste disposal at the faculty is drained into a septic tank. The wastewater is processed through the wastewater treatment system available at the faculty. The processed water is then used to water plants and flush toilets.

FoN UI Provides Free Drinking Water
Free drinking water is available on the 1st floor of the FoN UI building. It is provided for students, staff, and all visitors through dispensers with Bio Energy Water Purifier technology. This technology is equipped with a water filter that functions to purify raw water from wells into safe to drink water.

The Use of Water-Saving Equipments
FoN UI installs water saving faucet in ablutions area of the praying room in 1st, 2nd, 5th and 7th floor, and in the wash basin. Fon UI wash basin has been equipped with automatic sensor faucet which will automatically turn off after use. Moreover, some toilets also use automatic flush consisted of big and small stream toilet flush. Furthermore, FoN UI has been increasing the use of auto flush toilet to save more water.
Implementation of Water Conscious Planting
On the back wall of the building there are propagating plants, namely betel and binahong, which not only serves as reforestation but can also be used as traditional medicines. These kinds of plants don’t need any maintenance and can be left alone to grow by itself. In the rainy season, we don’t need to water it and in the dry season, we only need to water it occasionally. Thus, we can save water while maintaining the greenery environment in our faculty.
