Rui Pedro Gomes Pereira, RN, PHN, COHN, MSc, PhD, Lecturer in Nursing from Minho University, Nursing School Braga, Portugal was present as a speaker at a public lecture and workshop held at the Educational Building and Laboratory of the Faculty of Nursing, University of Indonesia on 24 and 26 July 2023. Rui’s arrival was warmly FoN UI welcomed by the Dean of FOUI, Agus Setiawan, S.Kp., M.N., D.N, and his staff.
“We warmly welcome this visit and hope to open the door for collaboration between FoN UI and Nursing School Braga, Portugal. In line withFoN UI’s vision and mission to become a center for the development of nursing science and technology that competes nationally and internationally,” said Agus Setiawan.
In the public lecture, Rui presented the topic of Evidence-based Health Care. The event, which was opened by Herni Susanti, S.Kp., M.N., Ph.D as Manager of Collaboration, Alumni Relations and Public Relations, was attended by around 60 participants from FoN UI , UI Hospital, and Tzu Chi Hospital.
Rui said that there are many health service challenges faced at the global level. To face this challenge, Rui invites health service providers, especially nurses, to provide evidence-based nursing services.
“Responding to global challenges, especially the current world of health, nurses are required to be able to provide professional nursing services. One form of professional service is evidence-based nursing services,” said Rui.
Evidence-based nursing services can be a solution in responding to the profession’s mandate and social matrix, maintaining and increasing credibility among various disciplines in the health sector, and can be taken into consideration when policy changes are made in the health sector.
The implementation of the topic of Evidence-based Health Care was continued in the workshop with the theme How to Implement Evidence-Based Health Care. The participants who attended discussed and directly implemented how to develop evidence-based health care.
Rui’s visit this time is the realization of the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Teaching program which aims to share different perspectives on nursing education in Europe and in Indonesia, especially those related to primary care and community care. Not only that, this program also aims to share experiences related to joint research projects. Rui had the opportunity to visit the Cimanggis Health Center Nursing Center accompanied by Dr. Sigit Mulyono, S.Kp., M.N made observations regarding the public health service system in Indonesia.
