Nursing students of Universitas Indonesia once again demonstrated their commitment to community service through the Badui Nyarita 2.0 program. Building on the success of the previous initiative, the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Nursing UI continued this activity with the goal of bringing health education directly to the Badui community, using a close, human-centered, and interactive approach.

The program was held in two locations: Kampung Balingbing in Banten and the Bogor Botanical Gardens. Over three days, the team carried out three main activities—TAPAK, LAVENTIK, and CERDIK—each tailored to the needs and characteristics of the local community.

TAPAK (Tindakan Awal Pertolongan Kecelakaan)
This activity involved 15 housewives in learning first aid. Through infographic posters and interactive practice, participants were divided into small groups to practice handling minor injuries such as burns, cuts, and puncture wounds. This hands-on approach allowed them to apply the knowledge directly in their homes.

LAVENTIK (Lawan Jentik Tanam Lavender Cantik)
This program targeted 15 heads of households, focusing on education about Dengue Fever (DBD) and the 3M practice (Burying, Covering, and Draining water containers). In addition to the educational session, the team planted 60 lavender plants together with the community as a symbol of dengue prevention, while respecting local cultural values.

CERDIK (Cerdas Hidup Bersih Sejak Kecil)
A total of 25 Badui children and 5 chaperones learned about Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) at the Bogor Botanical Gardens. The education was delivered through hand-puppet storytelling, handwashing practice, and nail-cutting activities. This fun and engaging approach is expected to instill healthy habits from an early age.

The program received a warm welcome from the community. The active participation and enthusiasm of the residents in each session reflected the success of the human-centered and context-sensitive approach.

“We hope to further improve the good things from this program. The Badui Nyarita 2.0 activities are closely related to health, and the community here is in great need of health education. We hope that in the future there will be even better programs while continuing to respect existing values,” said Mr. Sarpin, a representative of the Badui community.

The success of this program was made possible by the support of various parties, including the Directorate of Community Engagement and Social Innovation (DPIS) UI, Berkah Mitra Saiyo (BMS) Group, Biman Foundation, donors from the Faculty of Nursing UI Graduate Program, and the faculty members of the Faculty of Nursing UI. Through this collaboration, Badui Nyarita 2.0 successfully delivered health education that is closely connected to the community’s daily life, raised awareness, and encouraged active participation, all while respecting local wisdom.
