Depok, July 1, 2025 – Universitas Indonesia (UI) reaffirmed its commitment to preparing a globally competitive young generation by holding a Socialization and Workshop to Initiate Double Degree/Joint Degree (DD/JD) and Special International Class (KKI) Program
This event, organized by the UI Directorate of Educational Internationalization, is a follow-up to the issuance of UI Rector's Regulation No. 20 of 2025 concerning the Implementation of the KKI Program. The new regulation provides a clear legal basis for opening opportunities for UI students to study at the world's best campuses while also improving the quality of education in the country.
As part of the health sciences cluster, the Faculty of Nursing (FoN UI) welcomes this regulation and initiative. FoN UI is preparing concrete steps to open up international collaboration opportunities, especially in the fields of nurse education, specialist nursing, and health research.
The Dean of FoN UI, Prof. Dr. Rr. Tutik Sri Hariyati, S.Kp., MARS., affirmed that the internationalization of education is very important in the field of nursing. “The nursing profession does not only work in local hospitals but also has the potential to fill the needs of healthcare workers at a global level. With the KKI, UI nursing students can gain academic and practical experience abroad, while also bringing international standards back to Indonesia,” she said.
Through the KKI program, FoN UI students will be able to study in a foreign language and have the opportunity to pursue a dual degree with international partner universities. This will produce graduates who are ready to compete in the global job market while also contributing to improving the quality of healthcare services in the country.
For the community, the presence of internationally standardized nursing graduates means higher-quality patient care, the adoption of cutting-edge health technology, and the cross-cultural understanding that is highly needed in the era of health globalization.
The KKI program mechanism at UI is implemented with strict rules. Only study programs with "Unggul" or international accreditation can run the program. The learning process uses English or another foreign language, and students are required to have adequate language proficiency, such as a minimum TOEFL score of 500 or IELTS 6.0.
For the double degree or joint degree scheme, students are required to study at a partner university abroad for a minimum of 50% of their total study period. Graduates will receive an official diploma from UI and, for participants in the double or joint degree program, also receive an additional diploma from the international partner university.
With the new regulation and a spirit of internationalization, FoN UI hopes to expand its global cooperation in the field of nursing. This step not only provides a golden opportunity for students but also becomes a tangible contribution from UI in providing healthcare human resources that are internationally competitive, professional, and humane.
