39th Anniversary of FoN UI: Commitment to a Sustainable Future of Nursing

The Faculty of Nursing at the University of Indonesia (FoN UI) celebrated its 39th Anniversary on 15 November 2024. As the best nursing faculty in Indonesia in 2024 according to EduRank, this anniversary is an important moment to reflect on the long journey and extraordinary contributions that FoN UI has made in the world of nursing. With the theme ‘Nursing for a Sustainable Future’, this year's anniversary affirms FoN UI's commitment to continue to play an active role in supporting sustainability in various aspects of health and education. 

The Dean of FoN UI, Agus Setiawan, S.Kp., M.N., D.N., in his speech expressed his pride in the work of this faculty for almost four decades. ‘As one of the best Faculty of Nursing in the country, in its 39 years of work, we are proud and grateful that FoN UI has made the best achievements. This faculty also contributes through thought, leadership, work, and service to the wider community. This year's anniversary is a moment to affirm this commitment and give appreciation to all FoN UI academicians for their hard work,’ said Agus. 

The 39th anniversary was celebrated with various exciting activities that have been taking place since 15 October 2024 and culminated on 15 November 2024. Various competitions such as badminton, table tennis, volleyball, e-sport, and fun run illustrate the spirit of togetherness and sportsmanship. In addition, activities such as FoN UI Got Talent, tumpeng competition, cheerful competition, and green metric programme showed the creativity and environmental awareness of the FoN UI academic community. 

One of the interesting moments was the tumpeng competition which featured a special guest judge, Amanda Arum Sari, winner of MasterChef Season 10. The creativity and cultural values displayed in this competition symbolise the harmony between tradition and innovation that FoN UI holds dear. 

The peak of the anniversary event was also enlivened by a Scientific Oration delivered by Prof. Dr. Budi Anna Keliat. S.Kp., M.App.Sc., an important figure in the history of FoN UI. In his scientific oration, Prof Budi Anna reviewed the faculty's long journey, highlighting its outstanding achievements and contributions in improving the quality of nursing education and services in Indonesia. 

In addition, the peak event witnessed the launch of three new facilities and infrastructure initiated by FoN UI: Nursing Training Centre Special Work Unit, Nursing UI Daycare, and Smart Class Room. These facilities are expected to be able to support various needs of education, training, and modern technology-based services. In his speech, the Dean of FoN UI said, ‘The launch of these three facilities is a tangible manifestation of FoN UI's commitment to continue to innovate, provide the best in education and services, and prepare health workers who are not only competent, but also responsive to future challenges.’

With the theme ‘Nursing for a Sustainable Future’, the 39th Anniversary is a reminder of the important role of nursing in supporting sustainability, both in the fields of health, education, and society. FoN UI continues to be committed to making its best contribution to the nation and the world.
