SDG 3: Good Health and Well Being

Collaborations and Health Services

To accomodate the faculty’s vision and mission in thriving to be an aspiring and internationally recognised nursing faculty, FoN UI collaborates with and is open to provide consulting assistance and guidance on health and well-being to related organization and institutions, such as hospitals, gorvermental organizations, and universities. In 2023, FoN UI collaborates with 34 local/national health institutions and 21 international health institutions.

In 2023, FoN UI delivers community outreach programmes in the local community to improve and promote health and well-being to improve or promote health and well-being including hygiene, nutrition, family planning, sports, exercise, aging well, and other health and well-being related topics through research and community engagement programmes. The programmes are held for local communities, disadvantaged people refugee/immigrant communities.

GEMA SEHATI (Reading Movement for Health, Mental and Physical) aims to improve clean and healthy living habits among school-aged children in Sumedang. It addresses various public health aspects, including sanitation, healthy living behaviors (like nutrition and physical activity), education, numeracy, literacy, and information systems. GEMA SEHATI is part of the Community Care Program, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals for villages, particularly promoting health and quality education.

Promoting Health Awareness: Free Health Checks and Preventive Care. Promoting health awareness through free health checks and preventive care is vital for improving community well-being. These outreach programs provide essential services, like screenings and education, to those who may lack access to healthcare. By focusing on early detection and prevention, FoN UI empower individuals to take control of their health.

  1. Free Health Check at Boulevard Universitas Indonesia: This program is conducted by trained students from the Faculty of Health Sciences (FIK) at Universitas Indonesia. It offers important health examinations, including blood sugar, cholesterol, uric acid, and blood pressure tests. The initiative aims to raise public awareness about the importance of early disease detection and preventive health measures.
  2. Community Service: Healthy Bones, Strong Body, Meaningful Life: Participants can take part in bone and joint exercises, health discussions and consultations, as well as receive important health check-ups such as blood pressure, body fat, blood sugar, uric acid, and bone density tests. The program highlights the importance of strong bones and a healthy body for a fulfilling life.

FIK has a Student Counseling Board that offers mental health support for students dealing with educational and personal issues, such as adapting to society and their surroundings. The counseling facility is introduced during new student orientation and coordinated by the Vice Dean, who manages education, research, and student affairs. The counseling team includes faculty counselors and academic advisors. The university also offers mental health support for students through the Makara UI Clinic. If the issue persists, the Faculty Student Counseling Board or Makara UI Clinic will make a referral to a hospital. Students of UI are encouraged to have BPJS Kesehatan (Healthcare and Social Security Agency) and switch their First Level Health Facilities to Makara UI Clinic. The support from the faculty is free, while the support from Makara UI Clinic will only be charged if there are medicines that are not covered by the BPJS Health insurance.

FoN UI as a pioneer of the nursing faculty in Indonesia has been fully committed to uphold a Smoke-Free Policy within the faculty. The smoke-free policy is based on the Decree of Dean of FoN UI number 3073/H2.F2.D/HKP.02.04.2014 on No-Smoking Areas. No Smoking Area, hereinafter referred to as KTR, i.e. Kawasan Tanpa Rokok, literally “areas without smokeables”, is in line with the Decree of Rector of Universitas Indonesia number 1805/SK/R/UI/2011 regarding Universitas Indonesia No-Smoking Areas (KTR UI) and the Regional Regulation of Depok City number 3 year 2014 on No Smoking Area.

The staff of FoN UI are provided access to mental health support through the university. Each staff has access to mental health support in Makara UI Clinic using their staff ID or their BPJS Health insurrance ID. If the issue persists Makara UI Clinic will make a referral to a hospital. The support is free and will only be charged if there are medicines that are not covered by the insurance.
