Dr. Tuti Herawati, S.Kp., M.N. is a lecturer in the Medical Surgical Nursing Department at the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Indonesia (FoN UI), and a member of the Chronic and Palliative Care research group. Her primary areas of expertise include medical-surgical nursing, cardiovascular and pulmonary nursing, chronic disease management, palliative care, hemodialysis nursing, and complementary therapies in nursing practice.
As an active researcher, she has produced more than 29 scientific works including journal articles, literature reviews, and conference contributions. Her research covers a broad range of topics such as breathing exercise interventions for patients with chronic respiratory conditions and COVID-19 history, complementary therapy for sleep disorders in hemodialysis patients, cold application for pain management in patients with chest tubes, walking exercise in post-coronary artery bypass graft recovery, and deep learning-based cardiovascular disease detection from ECG signals. Her scholarly contributions support the achievement of SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy).
In community engagement, Dr. Tuti has led several Community Engagement and Empowerment (PPM) programs, including a social inclusion initiative for leprosy patients in Depok, West Java (MADANI program), and a Basic Trauma and Cardiac Life Support (BTCLS) training program for healthcare workers in Boven Digoel, South Papua — one of Indonesia’s most remote and underserved regions. Through this work, she demonstrates a deep commitment to equitable health capacity building across Indonesia.
