Member of the Public Communications Team of the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling Covid-19, dr. Reisa Broto Asmoro asked the public not to stigmatize health workers and Covid-19 patients.<\/p>\n
Reisa said that this did not provide any benefit for controlling the Covid-19 outbreak and would instead increase the number of positive Covid-19 victims due to psychological disturbances that reduce immunity which can make it easier for someone to get Covid-19.<\/p>\n
“I want to remind you about the negative stereotyped stigma, which is given by individuals or community groups towards health workers or Covid-19 patients. These are all useless and do not contribute anything to the control of Covid-19,” Reisa said at a press conference at BNPB Jakarta, Saturday (18\/7\/2020) as reported by infopublik.id.<\/p>\n
According to him, based on the survey results from the Faculty of Nursing, University of Indonesia and the Indonesian Mental Health Nurses Association, as many as 140 nurses had felt humiliated because of their status as Covid-19 nurses or served in Covid-19 handling hospitals.<\/p>\n
“This poll was conducted in early April 2020 for 2050 nurses throughout Indonesia,” he explained.<\/p>\n
Another result stated that 135 nurses had been asked to leave their homes. \u201c66 respondents experienced threats of expulsion. 160 respondents admitted that the people around them avoided them, and 71 respondents admitted that the community also avoided their families,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
For that, dr. Reisa invites the public to stop this negative stigma. “Brothers and sisters, let’s stop the negative stigma against doctors, nurses, Covid-19 patients and their families,” said dr. Reisa.<\/p>\n
