The Faculty of Nursing of the Universitas Indonesia (FON UI) is the first and best Faculty of Nursing in Indonesia and currently functions as a center of nursing education among which has a role as a supervisor of several nursing higher education institutions in Indonesia.<\/span><\/p>

The birth of the Faculty of Nursing at the Universitas Indonesia (FON UI) began with the opening of the Nursing Science Study Program (PSIK) which was established at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia in 1985. The foundation for the establishment of this Study Program was due to the increasing public demand for professional nursing services and referring to the health worker development policy in Indonesia as stated in the National Health System (SKN). The establishment of the PSIK was the result of a joint effort between the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Ministry of Health and other related institutions which in January 1983 had conducted a National Workshop on Nursing which produced recommendations for the development of nursing personnel at the undergraduate level.<\/span><\/p>

The Faculty of Medicine of the Universitas Indonesia (FK UI) was appointed by the Directorate of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture with Decree of the Director General of Higher Education No.339\/D2\/1985 and Decree of the Director General of Higher Education No.07\/DIKTI\/Kep\/1986 to organize nursing higher education and was the first higher education in the field of nursing at the Bachelor's level in Indonesia. In accordance with the decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia number 0332\/O\/1995 dated November 15, 1995, PSIK was authorized to become the Faculty of Nursing Science Universitas Indonesia (FON UI). With this authorization, the management of education is no longer carried out by the Faculty of Medicine but completely by FON independently.<\/span><\/p>

Since its establishment, PSIK-FKUI has held two types of undergraduate programs: Program A and Program B. Program A accepts high school graduates and Program B accepts D3 Nursing\/AKPER graduates with learning assignments from institutions; held in the morning. To increase opportunities for nurses who work but have the desire to pursue further education while working, in the 1995 academic year an extension class Program B was opened which was held in the afternoon. The length of education for program A is 9 semesters while program B is 5 semesters and graduates of both programs are Bachelor of Nursing abbreviated as S.Kp., who have full abilities and can be authorized as professional nurses. In accordance with the development of national education policy, since 1998 FON UI has organized a separate education program between the academic program stage and the professional program stage. The length of study for academic education programs is designed to be completed in 8 semesters for Program A and 4 semesters for Program B; while the length of study for professional education for both Program A and Program B is 2 semesters. Starting in 2000, Program A was referred to as the regular program and Program B as the Extension Program. The Extension Program is held in the morning and afternoon. Graduates of the academic stage are Bachelor of Nursing abbreviated as S.Kep. and graduates of the professional stage are Ners abbreviated as Ns (professional nurse designation).

In response to the complexity of quality nursing services, FON UI opened a Postgraduate level education program:<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Since 1996, FON-UI lecturers have been grouped into 4 (four) sections, namely: <\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Basic Science and Fundamental of Nursing <\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Medical-Surgical Nursing, <\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Maternity and Pediatric Nursing, <\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Mental and Community Nursing. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n


    However, in line with UI's status as BHMN and in an effort to develop nursing science, in 2004 FON UI developed the section into 6 (six) nursing scientific groups, namely: <\/span><\/p>\n

    1. Basic Science and Fundamental of Nursing Science Group, <\/span><\/li>\n
    2. Medical-Surgical Nursing Disciplinary Group, <\/span><\/li>\n
    3. Maternity Nursing Scientific Group, <\/span><\/li>\n
    4. Pediatric Nursing Scientific Group, <\/span><\/li>\n
    5. Mental Health Nursing Scientific Group, and <\/span><\/li>\n
    6. Community Nursing Disciplinary Group. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n


      Furthermore, in 2014 the scientific groups were changed to Departments in line with the enactment of the 2014 UI Bylaws so that currently FON UI has 6 (six) Departments.<\/span><\/p>\n

      The implementation of learning activities managed by the Basic Science and Fundamental of Nursing Section began at the FON UI Depok campus since October 2000. With the completion of the FON UI Depok building, since July 2003 almost all activities have utilized FON campus facilities and UI campus facilities in Depok. Learning activities involving guest lecturers from FK and RSCM and academic venture activities use the FON UI Salemba campus.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Since 2012, the implementation of undergraduate learning activities has been carried out in the building of the Health Sciences Group together with four other faculties in the Health Sciences Group, namely the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Public Health and Faculty of Pharmacy. This is also in line with the implementation of the integrated curriculum of the health science family which came into effect in the 2012\/2013 academic year. For the learning of Postgraduate program students (Masters, Specialists and Doctoral) since 2012 has been carried out in the FON UI Education Building and Laboratory which is located separately from the Health Sciences Cluster Building at UI Depok Campus, this happened because the FON UI Depok Campus was previously the location of the construction of the UI Teaching Hospital.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
