With the increasing number of disasters in Indonesia and the large number of disaster victims from children and risk groups such as children with special needs, the Faculty of Nursing, University of Indonesia (FoN UI) initiated disaster risk reduction programs in schools through Community Service Activities. This time the activity raised the theme of Disaster Response Education at Inclusive Elementary Schools in the city of Depok which took place from 14-16 August 2019. This activity was funded from the Community Service Grant of the UI Action program for the State in 2019 and in collaboration with the Department of Research and Community Service, University of Indonesia ( DRPM UI). It was conducted at the Inclusive Elementary School at SD Negeri Depok Baru 8, Pancoran Mas District, Depok City, West Java. Considering that there is no experience in receiving disaster preparedness education, the FoN UI team provides disaster management education to form a disaster response attitude for students and teachers. In addition, SDN Depok Baru 8 has dozens of students with special needs who need special treatment according to their needs during a disaster. Information from the Principal of SDN Depok Baru 8 has never received any socialization or disaster response training.

“The impact of the disaster at SD Inclusion can affect regular students and ABK students who are a group vulnerable to physical and psychological injuries. So that resilience and preparedness in the pre-disaster period are important to improve in order to reduce the negative impact of post-disaster,” said Allenidekania.

FoN UI as a pioneer of Disaster Response Education Activities at Inclusive Elementary Schools in Depok City aims to improve the knowledge and skills of teachers and students of Inclusive Elementary Schools in Depok City in responding to disasters. This activity is also a form of support for Perka BNPB Number 14/2014 concerning Handling, Protection and Participation of Persons with Disabilities in Disaster Management. Because people with disabilities such as students with special needs tend to be ignored in disaster situations that can cause panic, it is possible that their special needs are not met and they often don’t get help when a disaster emergency occurs. It is hoped that FoN UI community service activities will be an effective effort to socialize disaster management in situations where there is no disaster, during disaster emergency response and after disaster events in the school environment, especially in inclusive schools that have children with special needs students.
This disaster education program was initiated by Dr. Allenidekania, MSc., is supported by nursing masters students from FoN UI (Regina Natalia, Havizoh, Muhammad Husein, Amalia Cahyaningtyas, Silvia Elki Putri, and Fransiska Novita Sari) and undergraduate nursing students from FoN UI (Chorina Mega Noviana, Imaz Zaniar Majid, Natasya Moulina , and Afifah Nurul Hidayah).
The series of activities consist of education and disaster response simulations specifically for earthquakes and fires. This service activity begins with the delivery to the school of equipment for disaster simulations including the installation of assembly points, evacuation routes, sirens, first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and disaster preparedness posters. Followed by a disaster risk assessment at SDN Depok Baru 8. On the second day, education was conducted for teachers. In this case, FoN UI received support from the Extension Section of the Depok City Fire and Rescue Service to fill out materials on Fire Disaster Preparedness. Allenidekania, MSc.

Furthermore, knowledge dissemination and disaster response simulations for all students were carried out on the third day. The FoN UI Community Service Team empowers teachers as facilitators in each class who are tasked with providing education and simulations with the Community Community Service team. In addition, one teacher was also selected as the person in charge of sounding the disaster siren and 1 responsible teacher as the field coordinator who would provide direction during the disaster phase. Not only teachers are actively involved, the FoN UI Team also divides each regular student who will work in pairs with students.

The interesting thing about the Disaster Response Education activities at SD Inclusion is that it uses a variety of learning methods including lectures, discussions, and disaster simulations by teacher participants and all students. In addition, the selection of learning media is an important thing that the Community Service team pays attention to. In order to help improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the student learning process, the educational media used in this activity include posters about disasters, animated disaster preparedness videos, earthquake alert songs, safety support tools, and the Earthquake and Fire Disaster Preparedness Education module in schools that compiled by the FoN UI Pangmas team.
Efforts are being made to increase the benefits of the UI Action program for the State and maintain the sustainability of the FoN UI program by establishing good cooperation with schools so that they can socialize and provide education about disasters to inclusive elementary school students. In addition, the sustainability of this program is also carried out by extending socialization regarding disaster to other schools through several activities including mentoring school teachers in providing disaster response education to students periodically, holding disaster response simulations in schools, training teachers who have not received training. about disasters, making disaster response videos as instructional educational videos when disasters occur and collaborating with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) and the Fire Department for counseling activities about disasters.

The FoN UI Community Service Team hopes that this activity can inspire various parties to care about tackling the impact of disasters, especially for vulnerable groups, namely children and people with disabilities such as ABK. Because disasters can cause many victims, which in turn will create new people with disabilities.
The FoN UI innovation from this community service activity is in the form of producing two scientific products in the form of a video on Disaster Response Education activities in Inclusive Elementary Schools and a book on Earthquake and Fire Disaster Preparedness Education Modules in Schools. Hopefully this work can be used as a stepping stone to produce works in a wider context to contribute to increasing public knowledge about disasters.
The participants of the activity said that this activity was very beneficial for them. Teachers can know their role during the disaster phase so as to help solve problems and meet the special needs of students with special needs. Meanwhile, students feel satisfied and lucky to get positive benefits from this activity because it can help students form a disaster-resilient attitude from an early age.
