Natural disaster events can indeed disrupt a person’s psychological condition because they threaten life safety and cause other losses. Many victims experience psychological imbalances with visible symptoms such as shock, nightmares, difficulty concentrating, excessive alertness, and feelings of insecurity.
The UI Faculty of Nursing in collaboration with the Banten Provincial Health Office, DPD PPNI Lebak, IPKJI Banten, Akper Yatna Yuana Lebak, and the Dhira Suman Tritoha Clinic sent their team to provide mental health and psychosocial support at Gor Banjar Irrigation Lebak, Banten on January 8 – 9 2020.
Prof. Dr. Budi Anna Keliat who represented FoN UI and PP IPKJI went directly to the refugee camp to provide mental health and psychosocial support to flood victims. The other representatives from FoN UI are Ns. Tri Budiati, M.Kep., Sp.Kep.Mat, Ns. Selly Kresna Dewi, M.Kep, Ns. Putri Mahardika, M.Kep, Ns. Dorlan Natalina Purba, M.Kep, Ns. Iis Indriyani, M.Kep, Ns.Atun Raudatul Ma’rifah, M.Kep, Ns.Ratnawati, M.Kep.
This activity is expected to have a positive impact on the lives and psychology of flood victims and can eliminate trauma, and other psychological impacts that are usually experienced by disaster victims.
