A total of 24 volunteers consisting of FK and FoN UI Medical teams, BEM of Nursing and FT UI, K3L Team, and Student Regiments (Menwa) visited 3 flood disaster points that were sweeping through DKI Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi at the beginning of the year 2020
The activity was carried out on Friday – Saturday (3-4 January 2020) in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and local health centers.
“We are sorry for the victims who died in the floods and are very concerned about this disaster. Hopefully it will recede quickly and the victims can be dealt with swiftly and there will be no more fatalities, “said Kasubdit of the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DRPM) UI Tine Almuktabar in Depok on Sunday.
Tine said that UI Caring activities can provide quick action in responding to disasters that occur at the national level. We are also grateful to various parties who have helped us, such as BNPB and the local Puskesmas.
UI Care activities focus on three actions, namely the psychoeducation action, the distribution of logistics and hygiene kits as well as the health education action in the event of flooding and helping clean up people’s homes.
The three actions were carried out in three locations, namely Cipinang and Kampung Melayu, Cimanggis, and Borobudur University.
During the action, the UI Peduli team delivered the key message “Safe and Healthy in Floods” to displaced mothers and children, because they were the most vulnerable to health problems in refugee camps.
