The UI Peduli team from the Faculty of Nursing, University of Indonesia, consisting of educators and staff, participated in the UI Peduli activity initiated by the Crisis Center of the UI Faculty of Psychology and the UI DRPM team (Directorate of Research and Community Service). A total of 24 volunteers consisting of the Medical Faculty and FoN UI teams, Student Executive Board FoN and Faculty of technic UI, the K3L Team, and the Student Regiment (Menwa) visited 3 flood disaster points that were hitting DKI Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi at the beginning of the year. 2020.
The activity which was held on Friday – Saturday (3-4 January 2020) was in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) and local health centers.
“We are sorry for the victims who died in the flood disaster and are very concerned about this disaster. Hopefully it will subside soon and the victims can be handled swiftly and there will be no more casualties,” said Head of Sub-Directorate for Research and Community Service (DRPM) UI Tine Almuktabar in Depok, Sunday.
Tine said UI Peduli’s activities can provide quick action in responding to disasters that occur at the national level. We also thank various parties who have helped us, such as BNPB and the local health center.
UI Peduli’s activities focus on three actions, namely psychoeducation, distribution of logistics and cleaning equipment, and health education in a flood situation and helping to clean people’s houses.
The three actions were carried out in three locations, namely the Cipinang and Kampung Melayu areas, Cimanggis, and the University of Borobudur.
In this action, the UI Peduli team conveyed the key message “Safe and Healthy during a Flood” to displaced mothers and children, because they are the most vulnerable to health problems in the refugee camps.
