FoN UI Holds Covid-19 Prevention Education for Pregnant Women

The Covid-19 pandemic is an epidemic that attacks almost all countries in the world, including Indonesia. The impact of the outbreak also occurs in pregnant women who experience physiological adaptations to hormonal changes will experience changes in the immunological system.

Therefore, this condition causes pregnant women to be vulnerable to contracting the COVID-19 virus and is very dangerous for the mother and fetus. This very threatening condition can be prevented by efforts to disseminate information to pregnant women and their families accurately and easily how to prevent the transmission of covid 19.

The Faculty of Nursing, University of Indonesia (FoN UI) in collaboration with the Directorate of Research and Community Service at the University of Indonesia (DRPM UI) conducted Community Service activities to provide training to cadres in the use of health education applications for the prevention of covid 19 for pregnant women.

The Chair of the Service Team and FoN UI Professors, Prof. Dra Setyowati SKp, MappSc, Phd, stated that the purpose of this activity was to increase community participation through empowering health cadres in the use of health education applications in preventing covid 19 for pregnant and postpartum women in the community.

Moreover, pregnant women are very vulnerable to contracting COVID-19 due to hormonal changes during pregnancy and how to breastfeed during a pandemic. “So pregnant and lactating mothers need accurate and accurate information about their health conditions, how to access health services during the pandemic and how to maintain health during the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said, based on a release, Friday (12/25).

Based on current conditions, the limitations of health services and the provision of face-to-face information are obstacles during the pandemic. Therefore, cadres who come from residents are trained to use mobile phone applications in providing health education to pregnant and postpartum women during the pandemic.
